Trivandrum also known as Thiruvananthpuram is the capital city of Kerala. It is known as the ‘Evergreen City of India’ by Mahatma Gandhi and boasts of a population of more than 750,000 inhabitants. The Vishnu temple resting on the remains of Anantha is the iconic attraction of the city. There are plenty of things you can do in this city and here are some of the best chosen activities by the tourists:

Visit the Zoological Gardens: A visit to the Zoological Gardens is a must if you are in Trivandrum. The zoo is complete with shaded paths running through lakes and woodlands. Here you get lucky to spot a tiger. Or you can spend sometime watching the birds of different feathers flocking together. There is a separate reptile house as well.

Take a day tour of the city: The KTDC bus offers tours to take you around the city. The bus would take you to some of the major tourist spots including the Kovalam beach. The half day tour would be from 8:30am to 1pm and again from 2pm to 7pm. The full day tour is from 8:30am to 7pm.  Avoid taking a tour on Monday as most of the places are closed.

Soak yourself in spiritual glory: This is a 260 year old temple and the spiritual heart of Trivandrum. It spills over 2400 square meters and the primary entrance is as tall as 30 metres. The deity is believed to be made with over 10000 sacred stones, which were transported from Nepal by an elephant.

Peek at a dance session in the Margi Kathakali School: This dance school conducts Kathakali courses for both beginner and advanced students. They charge INR 200 per session that lasts up to 1 and half hour. Visitors can peek at costumed sessions held from 10am to noon every Monday to Friday.
